It feels great when I hear someone is visiting Bali. This is one island that offers a variety of destinations to visit. Its culture, people, temples, beaches, waterfalls will definitely wow you. I will cover those in upcoming posts. Here, I am describing the two places I stayed in.

Mountain and Beaches

Being a volcanic island, Bali offers both sea beaches and high mountains within a few minutes of drive. While there are multiple choices for your beach stay, your days on the mountains will mostly around Ubud. I suggest you to stay in Ubud for the first half of your holiday where you will spend most of the days visiting places. The second half is better spent at sea side. You can choose from multiple beach destinations according to your plan – Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua are the most popular beaches in south Bali.

Ubud

Ubud is the cultural centre of Bali. With the royal palace, monkey forest, rice terraces, waterfalls, Ubud is definitely your first step. While your days will be spent visiting popular or ofbeaten roads on the mountains, your nights deserves a peaceful stay, a good meal, smiling staffs, comfy bed, and possibly a good shower. Oh, by the way, keep at least one day reserved to explore the place you are staying. If you stay in the same place I stayed, you will definitely find it very interesting to discover each corners.

I remember when I was first looking for places to stay, I didn’t took Resorts or Villas in consideration. My perspective was that I can afford only hotels. But believe me, Bali is much affordable, and if you ever wanted to stay in a resort, it is definitely in Bali. With about $100 per night, Ulun Ubud Resort and Spa is my recommendation.

Upon arrival, I expected they would hurry to complete the formalities. But no. To my surprise, they took me to their welcome balcony. Provided me fruits and juices to cool down the sweat of long journey. It was beautiful how I slowly accustomed myself with the serenity of the surrounding while calming my heartbeat.

The resort is built on the flank of the mountain. I entered from the top of the resort. The rooms are arranged on steps down the hill. At the very bottom, flowing is river Tjampuhan. On the other side, another mountain is going up. The only sound I could hear was the crickets and the river. It was so calm, so seren, anyone will fall in love at first sight.

After completing the formalities, I was accompanied by the most sweet and smiling boy Futu to the room, which is with a king size bead, a balcony with river view, bath tub, stone decorated shower and many more things.

Let me not write more descriptions making your bored. The pictures will speak for it.

 Nusa Dua

After my busy days in Ubud, now it is time to unwind. What can be more relaxing than a calm beach, palm trees, pool beds. That is why I chose Nusa Dua for the remaining half of my holiday. This part of Bali is a little laid back, with series of all-inclusive resorts. This is perfect for your holiday retreat. If you are looking for night life, pubs etc, my recommendation is Kuta, but that is more crowded and touristy, so I avoided staying there.
